Why communication readiness matters

Students may understand a subject and still struggle to explain it under interview pressure. Placement preparation therefore needs to create repeated opportunities to speak, receive feedback and improve—not only a final mock interview.

Build readiness before placement pressure

A useful programme establishes a baseline, creates a regular practice rhythm, measures progress and helps the placement team identify where intervention is needed. CampusVoice normally supports two conversations a week—96 individual practice conversations and around 16 hours of deliberate speaking practice across a year.

Use six signals, not one vague label

CampusVoice measures Pronunciation, Grammar, Fluency, Confidence, Filler Words and Vocabulary. The purpose is not to rank students. It is to make improvement specific and actionable.

Turn visibility into action

Look for students who have not started, practise inconsistently, remain stalled in a particular skill, or are progressing toward interview readiness. Different patterns need different interventions.

Use milestones as direction

5.0 Foundation, 7.0 Proficient and 8.0 Interview Ready help students understand progress. The 8.0 benchmark is a communication-readiness indicator, not a guarantee of selection or employment.

A simple TPO action plan

Establish the cohort and baseline. Set the practice cadence. Review participation and skill movement regularly. Intervene with the students who need support. Increase interview-focused practice as placement season approaches.
